After accepting the request made by the Attorney General’s Office, a  judge sent Giovanni Martínez Cruz to prison. He is identified as the person responsible for the murder of Marlon Bertulfo Cuenca.

The events under investigation occurred on January 19 in Bolívar neighborhood in Cauca, where Bertulfo Cuenca was attacked with a sharp weapon.

The judicial police actions allowed the Prosecutor’s Office to establish the full identity of the alleged involved person. Therefore, a prosecutor appointed to the Sectional Office in Cauca requested the respective arrest warrant.

Members of the Technical Investigative Corps (CTI) and the National Police, with the support of the National Army, carried out the arrest of the defendant in the El Ortigal neighborhood in Popayán.

The Prosecutor’s Office charged Martínez Cruz with aggravated homicide.
