Today, the Office of the Attorney General held a meeting with a delegation of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) whose primary objective was to deliver the report on investigations, clarification of crimes and defense of human rights that the institution has carried out within the framework of the social protest that began on April 28 in the country.

The Commission heard the detailed report of the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado and the Deputy Attorney Martha Janeth Mancera, who explained the different investigative lines that the institution has been developing in relation to the violent demonstrations that were committed during this period.

The Attorney General Francisco Barbosa pointed out that “It was an important and historic meeting. The Attorney General´s Office also submitted a balance of the demonstrations that took place in Colombia and the institution´s judicial work in this country. We deeply respect the meaning and importance of the Inter-American Human Rights System that is part of our constitutional system. This dialogue strengthens the Rule of Law and the protection of fundamental rights”.

For her part, the president of the IACHR, Antonia Urrejola, stated “I want to thank the Attorney General Barbosa and his staff for all the information that was submitted. We held a significant meeting in which we received a lot of information that will be important to the Commission´s monitoring labor, as well as for the purpose of our work”.
