The Office of the Attorney General and National Army found the laboratories in Nariño. The production and drug trafficking structure of these two groups is valued at 340 billion.
As part of the strategy to strengthen the institution in the territories and to block the illegal corridors used by criminality in the main tributaries and swamps of the country, the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, and his executive staff arrived in Mompox (Bolívar) to define differential investigative plans to combat crimes that affect southern area in Bolívar and Magdalena Medio.
The Office of the Attorney General and the Army located the laboratories in Nariño.
In Mompox, the Attorney General announced a hard blow against the criminal structures that support themselves from drug trafficking.
The Technical Investigative Corps (Cuerpo Tecnico de Investigación CTI), in a joint work with the National Army and with the support of the US agency DEA, located two gigantic cocaine production complexes that were operating in the jungle area of Pizanda in Cumbitara (Nariño) near Patía River.
About 3 tons of cocaine were seized (about 2,800 kilograms) and more than 600 kilograms of coca base paste. Additionally, a significant number of supplies were found: acetone, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, caustic soda, lime, among other chemical elements.
Each laboratory consisted of 6 structures and had the capacity to store up to 30 people. In addition, they had compressors, extractors, boilers, condensers, ovens, and other types of machinery and elements necessary to produce 3 to 4 tons of narcotics.
The drug and this illegal structure that were discovered allegedly exceeded the 95 million dollars. These are the resources that will no longer receive the so-called “Jaime Toño Obando” ELN Southern Front, the criminal group to which the illicit processing centers belonged to.
