Investigations allowed to clarify the multiple murder in less than 10 days. In two months, it was possible to identify the alleged perpetrators of 9 criminal acts.
In 10 days, the Special Investigation Unit of the Office of the Attorney General and the Sectional Office in Cauca managed to clarify the murder of six people in Munchique village, municipality of Buenos Aires (Cauca) who were attacked when they were in a cockpit on September 20.
The strategic direction of the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, allowed the assignment of the case to the Special Unit and the assignment of an expert team to take charge of the case and arrest Breiner Orlando Daza Daza, alias Chuky, and Sebastián Mestizo Daza, alias Sebastián, the alleged members of the Sixth Commission of the FARC dissident Jaime Martínez.
The announcement was made by the Attorney General Francisco Barbosa, who highlighted the inter-institutional work with the National Army (Batallón Pichincha y Baimi 3) and the Police, who carried out a search warrant in the last hours together with the Sectional Office in Cauca and CTI members of the Special Unit in the rural settlement las delicias in the municipality of Buenos Aires Cauca. Firearms, communication equipment, garments for the exclusive use of the military forces and material referring to the Jaime Martínez structure were seized.
The defendants would be charged with aggravated murder, aggravated criminal conspiracy, firearms trafficking, extortion, and qualified and aggravated theft.
The head of the investigating body informed that the team that was designated is analyzing the seized items and seeks to establish the alleged participation of one of those individuals arrested in the recent multiple murder that took place in Jamundí (Valle del Cauca) in which four people died.
“In less than three months we have been informed about 9 facts that have caused the death of 46 people, many of them young Colombian citizens in the departments of Norte de Santander, Cundinamarca, Cali, Arauca, Cauca, Nariño and Bolívar. However, in all cases we have achieved the clarification of the facts in less than two months, thanks to a focused work and the specialized teams. This way, we obtained the prosecution of 21 people who would be involved in these unfortunate crimes” highlighted the Attorney General.
“We continue working with discretion but with severity against the armed actors that affect our territories. We will never stop investigating and prosecuting those who have caused the death of our fellow citizens” concluded the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa.
