Reaffirming its commitment to dismantling the criminal organizations that commit murders, threats and other serious offenses against human rights defenders and demobilized former combatants, the Office of the Attorney General, through its judicial police (Cuerpo Técnico de Investigación CTI in Spanish) and with the support of the National Army arrested three alleged members of Clan del Golfo.

Among the arrested people is José Gabriel Julio Guerrero, alias Pinto, who would be in charge of the expansion of the organization and the illegal occupation of lands in the Departments of Antioquia and Chocó; in addition to coordinating drug trafficking routes and attacks against the public force and the civilian population.  

The other individuals arrested were Juan Bautista Montoya, the alleged leader of the front named Pablo José Montalvo Cultiva of Clan del Golfo and Raúl Albusto Verbel, alias El Médico, who would be in charge of providing medical assistance inside the criminal structure.
