In a virtual hearing, the 3rd special judge of Bogotá decided to transfer to the Special Jurisdiction for Peace ((JEP by its Spanish acronym) the process that is carried out in the Office of the Attorney General against the former governor of Santander Hugo Heliodoro Aguilar Naranjo for money laundering, so that it will define whether if it has jurisdiction or not to assume it.
In that sense, the judge adjourned the process carried out by the Office of the Attorney General for this case, according to provisions of article 47 of Law 1820 of 2016. The aforementioned is due to Aguilar Naranjo’s request to cease the process about a month ago, taking into account that JEP is aware of the investigation against him.
The process is related to the analysis performed by the Office of the Attorney General about the alleged unusual and accelerated growth of the former governor Aguilar Naranjo´s patrimony, which shows alleged commercial triangulations with some of his family members and third parties, through which he tried to legalize and hide resources obtained from his alleged relationship with structures of the demobilized block known as Bloque Central Bolívar of the self-defense groups.
The Office of the Attorney General makes this information public for reasons of general interest.
