Four alleged members of this organization were brought before the justice by the Office of the Attorney General

The Office of the  Attorney General brought four people before a supervisory judge in Bogotá as they would be part of a criminal organization accused of sexually exploiting women, some of them minors, in the southwest area of the city.

The members allegedly involved in this network known as Tropezón, apparently forced the victims, many of them migrants, to carry out sexual activities in a bar located in Bosa neighborhood in order to pay fees that were allegedly imposed.

As a result of this investigation, it was learned that in 2019, a teenager was tortured by this illegal structure because she told one of the men who visited the bar that the owners sold adulterated liquor and narcotics.

A prosecutor of the support unit (Unidad de Estructura de Apoyo de Bogotá (EDA) in Spanish) charged the four defendants with human trafficking, induction into prostitution, and torture. A prison sentence was issued against the defendants.

The defendants are: Silvia Yaney Castañeda Medina, Danilo Pacheco Español; and foreign citizens Exyerin David Vargas Paz and Leonardo Jesús Vargas Valles.

These people were arrested after a search and seizure process was carried out by members of the Sijín- National Police in Bogotá.

The Office of the Attorney General makes this information public for reasons of general interest.
