Thanks to the international judicial cooperation agreements and the exchange of information with authorities and agencies from other countries, the Office of the Attorney General established some investigation fronts to locate people wanted with a view to extradition for drug trafficking offenses.
As part of the established actions, the Special Directorate against Drug Trafficking of the Office of the Attorney General, with the support of the National Police, carried out operations in Antioquia and Valle del Cauca which led to the arrest of two alleged members of transitional organizations engaged in drug trafficking activities wanted by the United States.
Detention of alias Iguano
As a result of home searches carried out in the Villa María sector in Turbo (Antioquia), Jafet Berrio Rivas, alias Iguano, was arrested. He was allegedly in charge of coordinating the drug trafficking routes of the central substructure of ‘Clan del Golfo’ (Subestructura Central Turbo).
