The Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, visited the city of Cali (Valle del Cauca) as part of the institutional strategy on public safety and he stated that the work and coordination with the National Police and other municipal institutions will be strengthened to fight against criminality which is affecting the neighborhoods, the administrative divisions and districts of this city.
Initially, the institution will focus on the administrative divisions named ‘Comuna’ 11, 12, 13, 14 and 21 of the District of Agua Blanca where the highest number of criminal acts has been registered in recent months.
He added that the Office of the Attorney General will designate the investigative capacity to dismantle the different criminal structures in Cali and will use new technologies, such as artificial intelligence to carry out a facial recognition of criminals.
The Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, stated that in coordination with the district administration, there will be specific places to imprison arrested people. Likewise, he stated that some meetings with representatives of different sectors and managers of shopping centers have been scheduled in order to establish joint cooperation strategies to tackle criminality.
“You will probably see the Attorney General, even leading the operations when it comes to hitting drug trafficking gangs and groups that are threatening the health of children in this Department” concluded Prosecutor Barbosa.
