Héctor Orlando Padilla Barragán, who served as Mayor of the municipality Valle de San Juan from 2016 to 2019, and the elected Mayor 2020-2023 in the same town, Daniel Ricardo García Castillo, were sentenced according to a preliminary agreement to 65 and 55 months in prison, respectively, for the crimes of criminal conspiracy and aggravated corruption of voters.
The decision which was pronounced on May 28 by a criminal court of the circuit of Ibagué, ordered Padilla Barragán to pay a fine of 217 legal monthly minimum wages. In addition, he was disbarred from the practice of law and public functions during the same period of time.
