Based on the evidence presented by the Attorney General’s Office, the First Criminal Court of the Circuit of Neiva (Huila) sentenced Jesús Ignacio Losada Zabala, alias Nacho, to 48 years and 9 months in prison, as co-author of the murder of Celia Escobar Flórez, an employee of the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs*.

In the course of the process, a prosecutor from the Special Office on Financial Investigations showed that alias Nacho planned a meeting with the hired assassins, he was in charge of keeping a close eye on the victim, giving a firearm and motorcycles to the perpetrators and he helped them to escape. For this active participation in the planning and execution of the crime, Losada Zabala received eight million pesos.

The victim, Celia Escobar Flórez, who was serving as Head of the Internal Tax Audit Working Group (Grupo Interno de Trabajo de Auditoría Tributaria – División de Fiscalización de la DIAN) was murdered on May 10, 2013, in Neiva (Huila), when she arrived at her home.

On the other hand, in December 2015, Ignacio Losada Zabala was notified in Rivera (Huila) prison, place where he remains imprisoned for another investigation, about the fact that he was linked to the process. At the time, the Office of the Attorney General charged him with aggravated murder and illegal possession of firearms but the defendant did not plead guilty, therefore he was convicted for these charges.
