By virtue of a court order issued by a criminal judge of the specialized circuit of Cali, the National Police arrested Mario Pieschacón Negrini or Gerardo Antonio Bermúdez Sánchez, aka Francisco Galán, former member of the ELN, in Medellín (Antioquia) this February 22.
Alias Francisco Galán is wanted by virtue of an investigation conducted by the Office of the Attorney General related to facts that took place on September 17, 2000 when members of the National Liberation Army (ELN) – José María Becerra front kidnapped more than 64 people who were in public establishments located at kilometer 18th in Cali – Buenaventura road (Valle del Cauca).
Due to this action, alias Francisco Galán was charged under the terms of Law 600 for the crimes of aggravated extortive kidnapping, manslaughter (in series), aggravated robbery.
