Individual responsible for threats against journalists Juan Pablo Latorre and Katherine Leal was sentenced

Judge imposed 6 years and 8 months in prison. This is the fourth and highest sentence in this kind of cases.

As part of the prioritization strategy to investigate and prosecute threats against journalists, implemented by the Office of the Attorney General, the 1st Criminal Court of the Circuit of  Valledupar (Cesar) sentenced John René Gélvez Gélvez, aka Orbitel, to 80 months in prison.

The 43 Special Prosecutor´s Office assigned to the Directorate of Investigation and Analysis against Organized Crime demonstrated that Gélvez was responsible for the crime of aggravated threats against journalists Juan Pablo Latorre and Gina Katerine Leal.
