The Attorney General’s Office obtained a 43-year prison sentence against Jean Luis Jiménez Yarala, alias Estrellita; and Diestéfano Ortíz Andrade, alias El Gringo, responsible for the murder of a National Police patrolman which took place on August 9, 2021 in Malambo (Atlántico).

According to the investigation, the patrolman, at the end of his shift, ask the convicted people to stop committing criminal acts at the so-called Juan XXIII neighborhood, which had been constantly affected by his illicit activities. In response, alias ‘Estrellita’ shot him and then fled on a motorcycle driven by alias ‘El Gringo’.

Based on the evidence collected by the Office of the Attorney General, Ortiz Andrade turned himself in to the Immediate Reaction Unit (Unidad de Reacción Inmediata URI). Jiménez Yarala was arrested by the National Police by virtue of a court order two days after the murder.

During the trial, these people were found responsible for aggravated homicide; and aggravated trafficking, manufacture, possession of firearms, parts or ammunition.
