The 34th judge hearing the case in Bogotá sentenced the former major of this city, Samuel Moreno Rojas, to 30 years (360 months) in prison, as author of appropriation of 190,000 million pesos during the construction of Transmilenio* on 26th Street.

The decision also orders the payment of a fine of 26,000 million pesos and he is disbarred from the practice of law and public functions. This decision does not grant him the benefit of house confinement. The decision was appealed by the defense.

Moreno Rojas, who served as major of Bogotá for the period 2008 – 2011, was found guilty of aggravated misappropriation in favor of third parties and aggravated criminal conspiracy.
