It is the right of a person to submit respectful petitions to the authorities for a general or particular reason in order to obtain a prompt and in-depth response.
This requirement can be made either verbally, in writing or by other means of communication. Also by transferring data and without the need of a Lawyer.
Kind of requests:
- Public interest: This type of request is made by a group of users interested in a particular subject and there is no need to specify each petitioner involved. These requests are solved within 15 working days after receipt.
- Personal interest: This is a request made by a citizen in search of an answer that affects him /her. In this case, it is possible to identify the petitioner. These requests are solved within 15 working days after receipt.
- Information: This is a request made by a citizen which implies to investigate a situation that is related to the nature and objectives of the Office of the Attorney General. These requests are solved within 10 working days after receipt.
- Between authorities: A request made by an authority asking for information or documents to another. These kind of requests are solved within 10 working days after receipt.
- Reports requested by congressmen: These are requests submitted either by Senators or members of the Chamber asking for information since the Congress is responsible for exercising control. These kind of requests are solved within 5 working days after receipt.
- Request a document: It is a request made by a citizen. Copies and documents which are stored in public offices are submitted on the condition that these documents are not considered classified or confidential according to the Political Constitution, the law, or these do not have any relationship with the national defense or security. These kind of requests are solved within 10 working days after receipt.
- Consultation: A request made by a citizen which seeks to submit for the institution´s consideration a matter of its jurisdiction. These kind of requests are solved within 30 working days after receipt.
- Consulting the databases: It is a request made by a citizen in order to have access to the information found in the institution´s databases. These kind of requests are solved within 10 working days after receipt.
- Request to update information: It is a request made by the owner of the data, by his/her legal representative or a lawyer, when the owner considers that the information in the database must be corrected, updated, deleted or if the owner notices a possible failure to meet obligations. These requests are solved within 15 working days after receipt.
Claim: It is the right of a person to demand, reclaim or ask for a solution either for a particular or general reason due to the inappropriate provision of a service or the lack of assistance concerning a request.
Complaint: A complaint is an expression of protest, censure, annoyance or non-conformity related to an illegal conduct committed by either one or several public servants in the exercise of functions.
A Report: It is the way in which a person, informs the authorities verbally or in writing about a behavior that may be contrary to Law. Information such as time, manner and place of facts must be submitted.
