At the request of a prosecutor from the branch office in Bolívar (Seccional Bolivar), a judge imposed a prison sentence against Harlis David Martínez Montes, alias Candelo, alleged member of Clan del Golfo, who is allegedly involved in several criminal actions committed in Cartagena.
According to the investigation, the defendant is allegedly implicated in at least two murders that occurred in 2023 in Bolívar. These were two contract killings carried out on behalf of the so-called Clan del Golfo, the criminal organization to which Candelo is believed to belong.
One of the incidents took place on October 21, when a car driver was shot multiple times while driving through Simón Bolívar neighborhood. The second crime was committed on November 7 in Bocagrande sector. The victim was a tourism operator.
For these facts, the National Police arrested alias Candelo in Cúcuta (Norte de Santander). The Prosecutor’s Office charged him with aggravated homicide and aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime, as well as manufacturing, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition. He did not plead guilty to the charges.
