The evidence presented by the Attorney General’s Office allowed the Superior Court of Bucaramanga to sentence Óscar Camargo Ríos, alias Pichi, ring leader of the criminal group known as Los de San Rafa, to 52 years in prison for his responsibility in homicides, drug trafficking, among other criminal acts in Santander.

In the second instance, he was found guilty of conspiracy to commit a crime and homicide, both aggravated offenses, in addition to forced disappearance, trafficking, manufacturing, or possession of narcotics; and manufacturing, trafficking, possession of firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition.

Following the appeal filed by the Attorney General’s Office against the judgment of acquittal of first-instance, the court concluded that there were sufficient grounds to revoke the decision.

It was proven that ‘Pichi’ ordered the commission of various crimes, including drug trafficking. He also participated in the disappearance of a man and the murder of three other people between April and October 2020, as part of the territorial control in Bucaramanga.

Camargo Ríos will remain in a maximum-security prison in Combita (Boyacá), serving this new sentence.
