The evidence presented by the Attorney General’s Office allowed a judge in Girardot to sentence Fernando Figueroa Contreras, former mayor of Guataquí (Cundinamarca) 2012-2015, to 10 years in prison for his responsibility in irregularities in the sale of a plot belonging to the municipal government.
In this regard, he was found guilty of misappropriation, and he was also disbarred from the practice of public functions for the same length of time of the sentence.
These facts are related to the abbreviated selection process, which was carried out on October 15, 2015, for the sale of a plot belonging to the municipal government, valued at 21 million COP, when its actual appraisal exceeded 370 million COP.
During the investigation, the judge determined that the value of the land amounted to 1.141.734.141 COP, which caused financial loss to the municipality.
In the same decision, the judge ordered the annulment of the deed and records of the Illegal sale, in order to return the property to the municipal authority. In addition, he must pay a fine of the same value of the plot.
This is a decision of first instance and an appeal can be lodged.
