In isolated cases, the Attorney General’s Office brought to justice four men allegedly involved in physical, verbal and psychological abuse against members of their families.
The incidents took place in the municipalities of Guadalajara de Buga and Guacarí (Valle del Cauca). Among the victims are a father, a teenager and two sentimental partners.
- One of the cases is related to Walter Alonso Picón, 45 years old, who was charged by the Office of the Attorney General with aggravated domestic violence. The man was arrested by the National Police in compliance with a court order, on February 16, in Buga (Valle del Cauca). The defendant allegedly attacked his 38-year-old sentimental partner on February 2nd.
- In Guacarí, the Office of the Attorney General prosecuted Julio César Anchico Zapata as a possible responsible for the crime of domestic violence against his father. The incidents occurred on February 25 in a house in Aranjuez neighborhood where the victim, 64 years old, was allegedly intimidated with a sharp weapon by his son.
In two other cases that occurred in Buga, a father and Jerson Esneyder Gutiérrez Giraldo were prosecuted and accused of committing crimes of domestic violence and aggravated domestic violence, respectively.
The Office of the Attorney General served the indictment to the four people. Three of them must serve a prison sentence, except for Jerson Esneyder Gutiérrez Giraldo who remains linked to the process at liberty.
None of the defendants pleaded guilty to the charges.
