The joint work of the Office of the Attorney General and the National Police allowed the identification and arrest of three alleged members of the Los Gatos criminal organization, who would be involved in thefts from people in Sogamoso (Boyacá).
People involved are Yhon Jairo Najar Pérez, José Freddy Mantilla and Kevin Eduardo Mesa Ruíz, who were charged by the Prosecutor’s Office with conspiracy to commit a crime; and aggravated and qualified theft.
According to the investigation, led by a prosecutor from the Sectional Office in Boyacá, the defendants stole several people’s belongings through the commission of robberies using sharp weapons.
The interviews and the collection of recordings allowed to establish that the criminal structure approached its victims to violently take their belongings, causing anxiety among passers-by, mainly in the central area of the municipality.
During the indictment, the defendants did not plead guilty to the charges, and a judge imposed a prison sentence.
