Through a specialized office appointed to the Anti-Narcotics Unit of the Sectional Office in Tolima, the Attorney General’s Office dealt a hard blow to an organized common crime group (Gdco) known as ‘Los del Norte’, involved in the sale of narcotics.
These are 15 people arrested during 10 search warrants carried out by the National Police in different points of the main city of Tolima. The defendants would be responsible for the crimes of conspiracy to commit crimes and trafficking, manufacture and aggravated possession of narcotics. They did not plead guilty to the charges.
During the proceedings, narcotics, cell phones and items for measuring doses of illegal substances, more than 700,000 pesos in cash, allegedly derived from the illicit trade, were seized.
Apparently, the suspects were part of a network involved in the sale of cocaine and its derivatives through petty drug dealing with prices between 3,000 and 6,000 pesos.
During the investigation, which began last April, 23 controlled purchase of narcotics were allegedly carried out through an undercover agent.
These actions allowed the recovery of sports spaces that were affected by local trafficking of illicit substances, since they were sold on soccer fields in Nuevo Armero neighborhood, and Villa Jardín and Prado II neighborhoods.
At the end of the hearings, 14 people were sent to detention centers, and one was placed under house arrest due to health problems.
