The Attorney General’s Office brought 13 alleged members of Los Pantanos criminal group which is involved in the sale of narcotics near schools and sports environments in La Joya and Pantanos neighborhoods in Bucaramanga. These activities would mean an income of 36 million COP per month to the organization.
The investigation showed that this criminal network would be inducing children and adolescents to take drugs in Santander. For this purpose, they showed the substances in attractive packaging.
‘Los Pantanos’ allegedly used firearms to control the areas in which they committed crimes. This way, confrontations with other criminals would have arisen.
The Prosecutor’s Office charged the defendants with trafficking, manufacture or drugs possession and; manufacture, trafficking or illegal possession of weapons, in accordance with their individual criminal liabilities. They did not plead guilty to the charges.
A prison sentence was imposed against six of the defendants, the remaining must serve house arrest.
