Among the items that were stolen there were Jewelry, a laptop and cash. The value of the assets exceeded 70 million pesos.

The evidence presented by the Attorney General’s Office allowed a judge to sentence Estibenson Mauricio Rodríguez and Yenni Paola Jiménez to 9 years in prison for being responsible for stealing the belongings of a well-known merchant in Garzón (Huila).

The facts took place in a residential complex in that municipality in September 2022. As confirmed by the investigation, Jiménez, who is the victim’s relative, gave all the instructions to her accomplice to commit the theft.

It was also established that the convicted people broke into one of the windows of the house with saws and hammers and entered where there were two strong boxes containing gold jewelry, a watch, cash, documents, a laptop and wallets; assets valued at 75 million COP.

Likewise, it was learned through interceptions that Rodríguez contacted a jewelry dealer in Neiva (Huila) to sell part of the stolen items.

The defendants were sentenced for aggravated robbery.
