As a result of search warrants ordered by the Prosecutor’s Office, 11 people were arrested and narcotics were seized.

The joint work of the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police allowed the arrest and prosecution of 11 alleged members of a criminal gang known as ‘la Raya’, which would be involved in small- scale drug dealing in the municipality of La Pintada (Antioquia).

In 15 search warrants, nine people were arrested by virtue of a court order and two more in flagrante delicto. Among those arrested were Juan David Contreras Castañeda, alias David or Misael, alleged leader of this gang.

The judicial work also allowed the seizure of a 9-millimeter caliber artisanal submachine gun with 9 cartridges, a silencer and more than 550 doses of marijuana and cocaine.

The Prosecutor’s Office charged them, according to their individual responsibilities, with conspiracy to commit a crime, trafficking, manufacturing or possession of narcotics and manufacturing, trafficking, possession of weapons, ammunition of restricted use, for the exclusive use of the armed forces.

The defendants did not plead guilty to the charges. A judge imposed a prison sentence.
