The decision is related to the death of 10 children and adolescents during a military operation in Caquetá.

After assessing the evidence provided by the Attorney General’s Office, a specialized judge in Florencia (Caquetá) returned guilty verdict against five leaders of the FARC dissidents and found them responsible for the crimes of illicit recruitment and aggravated criminal conspiracy.

The decision involves:

  • Néstor Gregorio Vera Fernández, alias Iván Mordisco.
  • Géner García Molina, alias John 40.
  • Fabián Guillermo Espinosa Arboleda, alias Cancharino.
  • Alexander Díaz Mendoza, alias Calarcá.

A prosecutor from the Specialized Directorate against Human Rights Violations demonstrated that these people ordered, facilitated and carried out the recruitment of 10 minors who died on August 29, 2019, in the Candilejas rural area in San Vicente del Caguán (Caquetá ), during a military operation.

The investigation established that boys, girls and adolescents were part of ‘Cancharino’s security ring until his death was reported.
