The Office of the Attorney General charged Víctor Alfonso Martínez Jiménez for his alleged responsibility in the murder of councilor Geovanny Alirio Oliveros Mayorga, in Cunday (Tolima).
The man, known by the alias El Meca, would have planned with other people breaking the victim’s house to commit a robbery.
The councillor was at his residence on February 11, 2020 when he was surprised by several subjects who entered through the back of the building, in order to take $15 million COP that they knew he had in his possession.
The criminals did not took into account that the mayor had already spent $10 million COP in materials for a construction that he planned to carry out. And after not being able to deliver all the money, they shot him repeatedly.
It should be noted that for this homicide Omar Restrepo Perdomo and Brayan David Quintero Castro were sentenced to 20 years in prison. And the brothers Andrés Leonardo and Jonathan Yair Tovar Leyva are also being prosecuted.
The Prosecutor’s Office charged Martínez Jiménez with homicide, illegal possession of weapons and theft, all aggravated.
