At the request of a prosecutor of the Sectional Office in  Magdalena Medio, a judge sent Julieth Carolina Bustamante and Danilxon Navarro to prison. They were allegedly involved in a extortion against a merchant from Barrancabermeja (Santander).

According to the investigation, the calls with economic demands began on January 14. The alleged criminals identified themselves as members of illegal armed groups and demanded 100 million pesos to avoid attacking the victim and the merchant’s family.

During a controlled delivery, the merchant agreed to take the money to a commercial establishment in La Floresta neighborhood of Barrancabermeja, where the couple, now processed, also arrived.

Due to these facts, the Prosecutor’s Office charged Bustamante and Navarro for their alleged responsibility in the crime of aggravated extortion. They did not plead guilty.
