At the request of a prosecutor in Valle del Cauca Section, a judge from Cartago imposed a prison sentence against four alleged members of a gang involved in the commission of extortion.

The defendants are Óscar Andrés Jilon Vásquez, Lina María Soto Ocampo, Aidee Giraldo Varela, and Sebastián Herrera Giraldo who are investigated by the Attorney General’s Office as allegedly responsible for the crimes of aggravated extortion and aggravated conspiracy to commit a crime for extortion.

The defendants are allegedly responsible for extorting five people with messages, via cell phone, with economic demands that if they refused to pay; they or their families could be attacked, as well as their assets.

The defendants were arrested by the National Police.
