In compliance with the strategy related to the prioritization of cases that violate the integrity and sexual development of minors, a prosecutor from the Branch Office in Córdoba achieved the prosecution of three men, for being the alleged responsible for the sexual abuse of two minors ( 12 and 13 years old) who lived in a rural area in the municipality of San Carlos (Córdoba).
This result is due to the creation of the judicial and police bloc aimed at prosecuting those responsible for the violation of the rights of girls, boys and teenagers, which was announced in that Department last week by the Attorney General, Francisco Barbosa Delgado, who prioritized this case and in which conclusive results were achieved.
According to the investigations, the minors who were cousins and lived together, would be victims of the crimes of sexual assault and sexual acts committed by spiritual guide, an uncle and another of their relatives.
These indecent acts to which they were subjected, began three years ago, but they were reported until last October.
In a hearing*, the Office of the Attorney General charged Arturo Salgado Pérez, a spiritual guide, and their uncle, who was allegedly involved, with sexual act with a minor under the age of 14 in consistent sequence of serial crime. Meanwhile, the other relative, husband of one of victims´s cousin, was charged with abusive sexual assault with a minor under the age of 14.
A prison sentence was pronounced against the three men, who were arrested in a joint operation between CTI investigators and members of the National Army in Montería and San Carlos (Córdoba) on October 31st.
The penalty for these crimes ranges from 18 to 25 years in prison, if guilty.
The Office of the Attorney General makes this information public for reasons of general interest.
