The evidence and arguments presented by the Office of the Attorney General were accepted by a special court in Santa Marta (Magdalena) which imposed 49 years in prison on three people responsible for the so-called ‘Masacre de Masinga’, which took place on March 5, 2014, in the rural settlement of Bonda, ​​Santa Marta.

According to an investigation carried out by a prosecutor from the Special Office against Criminal Organizations, Fernando Coronel Fontalvo, alias Chavo; Johan Edgardo Arias Chinchiná, alias Sombra; and Antonio María Caballero, alias La Vaca were part of a criminal structure of the so-called ‘Clan del Golfo’ which arrived at a farm named Portón Verde and shot at guests in a birthday party. Five people died and two more were seriously injured.

For these facts, the court charged the defendants with aggravated murder, attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, and trafficking or possession of firearms and explosives.

Besides 588 months in prison (49 years), the decision also determined that the defendants must pay a fine of 8,000 monthly legal minimum wages.
