What is a criminal record?

It is a record about a conviction that has been issued by a competent authority which is final and that is found in the information system on police and criminal records (Sistema de Información de Antecedentes y Anotaciones Judiciales (SIAN)).

Who issues criminal records certificates?

Pursuant Decree 4057/2011, the National Police is the legally authorized authority to certify criminal records in Colombia. This process is conducted on-line at www.policia.gov.co. web page.

Please remember that the Office of the Attorney General does not issue criminal records certificates.

You can submit verbal or written respectful requests to the Office of the Attorney General in order to obtain information related to services offered by the institution as long as this information is not considered as classified.
