Today, Attorney General Néstor Humberto Martínez Neira, and his counterpart in El Salvador, Douglas Meléndez, signed a cooperation agreement at the so called Bunker (headquarters) to exchange information and experiences in the fight against transnational organized crime, drug trafficking, corruption, related and high impact crimes.
This agreement arose from bilateral meetings and visits of a delegation from Office of the Attorney General of El Salvador to several national offices in Bogotá in the last months. There, experiences concerning extradition, investigation and judgement on corruption, Asset Forfeiture (Extinción del Derecho de Dominio)1, money laundering, interception systems, functioning and structure of the judicial police and the so-called Centro Estratégico de Valoración Probatoria (Cevap) were shared.
This agreement aims to strengthen institutions and the fight against criminal structures which are affecting health, security and well-being of both countries.
- (Extinción del Derecho de Dominio in Spanish) “Loss of ownership of property derived from or used in criminal activity which will be seized by the government”.
