The National Police, the Office of the Attorney General and Ameripol carried out an operation named Alianza in countries such as Colombia, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Perú y Panamá.
14 gangs were dismantled, 1300 properties and 11.611 mobile phones were seized.
Theft of cell phones is one of the crimes that affects public safety the most and gathers the highest number of complaints. This illegal activity crossed borderlines. Therefore, the Office of the Attorney General and National Police in coordination with the Police Community of the Americas – Ameripol launched the so-called Alianza Operation.
This offensive action, which was planned during four months, becomes one of the most conclusive actions against transnational crime involved in theft of cell phones. This was carried out in three days and allowed to dismantle 14 criminal organizations engaged in committing thefts and selling phones from Colombia to Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Perú and Panamá.
A total of 1300 premises were seized and 11.611 phones were recovered. 367 people were arrested, 270 of them in Colombia and the remaining people in other six countries.
