On Monday, Attorney General Néstor Humberto Martínez Neira, was part of a reform bill which was presented before the Senate in order to implement a double instance for those entitled to a privilege or immunity (Aforados)*.

This legislative initiative which was led by the Supreme Court of Justice and is supported by the Home Office, the Ministry of Justice and the Office of the Attorney General, has as its main purpose to guarantee the second instance for public servants entitled to a privilege or immunity as Congressmen, ministers, governors and others, as it is referred to in Article 251 of the Political Constitution and according to the proposed amendment.  (Ver proyecto)

If the reform is approved, the Office of the Attorney General will be in charge of the first instance of these investigations.
