Preventive detention order was issued for Mayor and Secretary of Education of Riohacha (La Guajira) for corruption offenses

At the request of the Office of the Attorney General, the 81^st Criminal Court in Bogotá with supervisory functions (control de garantías) issued a preventive detention order for former Mayor of Riohacha (La Guajira), Fabio David Velásquez Rivadeneira and Secretary of Education of that municipality, Dilcey Yensith Acosta Novelys, for the alleged commission of embezzlement, execution of contracts without compliance of the legal requirements and forgery of document.

Both public servants pled guilty to the charges that were brought by the Office of the Attorney General in a public hearing.
