The Office of the Attorney General dismantled a criminal organization engaged in drug trafficking activities with the so called “Clan del Golfo” organization, also in committing extortions and “vacunas”1 for the so called “Oficina de Envigado”; as well as perpetrating actions by using “hit men” in the city of Medellin.
According to the investigation which was conducted by the National Office of Special Judicial Police Authorities and the Special Prosecutor´s Office of Counter-narcotics and Money Laundering with the support of DEA, among the arrested people there were public servants on active duty, retired army officers, police officers and public servants from the Office of the Attorney General who provided them with intelligence information and weapons, facilitating in that way their criminal actions.
