A preventive detention order with home confinement was issued for the 30 years old Lieutenant from the National Police, Daniel Augusto Valencia Rivera for alleged sale of a machinery and tools that were seized during an operation against illegal mining.
These elements were confiscated in February in rural area of the municipality of Caucasia (Antioquia); but they were not destroyed or handed over to the prosecutor with the respective chain of custody. It is under investigation whether they were sold by the officer to a businessman from Bajo Cauca (Antioquia).
