Charges against former treasurer of the Mayor´s Office in Quindío were brought by the Office of the Attorney General for embezzlement

Charges against former treasurer of the Mayor´s Office in Armenia (Quindío), Beatriz Elena Arias González, were brought by the Office of the Attorney General for embezzlement as the municipality was victim of a theft that she even denounced at the beginning of September 2013 when she was holding that position.

She appeared before the 1^st Criminal Judge with supervisory functions (control de garantías) in Quindío who informed her that she was under investigation for the alleged embezzlement of 1.142.765, 217 Colombian pesos, as she allegedly provided the system´s passwords allowing an online theft in august 2013. This amount was deposited in the municipality’ accounts.

From august 15 to 30, a total of six (6) withdrawals from three (3) official accounts were made: 10’000.000, 20’000.000, 41’113.000, 41’111.000, 484’597.216 and then 545’944.000 Colombian pesos.
