Before the Chamber of Representatives, the Attorney General in Colombia, Néstor Humberto Martínez Neira, remarked on the small claims Bill by which criminal violations are defined, a special abbreviated criminal procedure for those is established, and the concept of private prosecutor is regulated.
Even though the Colombian Attorney General recognized the importance of such initiative for a more efficient State when penalizing criminal actions and relieving workloads or backlog of cases “descongestión” in the judicial system, he emphasised the need of changes. Therefore, he created a commission “comisión accidental” to evaluate those changes that have been proposed.
