On Tuesday, lawyer Jorge Fernando Perdomo Torres was appointed Interim Attorney General before the Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos Calderón.

He earned his law degree from Universidad Externado de Colombia, a Master’s degree and a doctorate from University of Bonn in Germany. Postdoctoral studies at the University of Frankfurt. He was a visiting researcher at the University of Cologne, the University of Rostock (Germany) and the University of Cambridge (England).

He has been investigator and teacher of criminal law for undergraduate and graduate courses at Universidad Externado for 18 years. He has worked as an adviser for public and private institutions. Among his recognized publications in German are: “Das Begehen dur Unterlassen im positiven Recht”, “Garantenpflichten Aus Vertrautheit” and “Die Duldungspflicht im rechtfertigenden Notstand.

He worked as Deputy Attorney General and vice minister (Viceministro de Política Criminal y Justicia Restaurativa) at the Ministry of Justice where he led outstanding projects such as the Justice and Peace Law and the Legal Framework for Peace.
