Regarding the masacre of children in Florencia (Caquetá) which occurred in February 4, Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Jorge Fernando Perdomo, stated that “the Office of the Attorney General will request the maximum possible punishment in all proceedings regarding this case, which can be on this occasion up to 60 years since offenses against children were committed. Law 1098, 2006 regarding minors (Ley de Infancia y Adolescencia) does not allow a reduced sentence or benefits”.

Deputy Assistant Attorney General summarized that the effort of Office of the Attorney General´s Office and National Police let the perpetrator’s arrest. In other words, the arrest of hired killers Crístópher Chávez Cuéllar and Génderson Carrillo Ordóñez, Luz Mila Artunduaga as mastermind, other two accomplices brothers Edison and Aleiser Vega who would hired the killers to commit this crime.

Senior Official highlighted that “today, an arrest warrant was issued against Jainer Urueña who would be involved in contacting the killers (…) and it is being considered the possibility to request two other warrants of arrest against two other people who would have participated financing these facts with 500 pesos. They contributed an amount of money with which killers were paid”.

“Currently, 6 warrants of arrest have been issued but only five of them have been  served and the participation of two other people is being considered. Therefore, a total 8 people among perpetrators, mastermind and collaborators participated in these facts” added Perdomo.

Concerning the family who was victim of the massacre, Deputy Assistant Attorney General stated that “from the beginning and by order of Attorney General, a security and protection plan was organized for the Vanegas Grimaldo family and we consider that the family must continue in this program since the risk is high”.

He concluded that this investigation made a contribution to other processes since “the Office of the Attorney General was able to stablish other practices of hiring hit men in the area and we are developing other hypothesis concerning other murders that were committed and were not clarified up to now”.
