Today, during a visit to the municipality of Buenaventura (Valle del Cauca), the Deputy Attorney General, Jorge Fernando Perdomo Torres, gave a report regarding the positive results of the Attorney General´s Office intervention in that region during the last 6 months.

In this regard, he said that it is satisfying for him to see that the Office of the Attorney General has been strengthen with more than 30 public servants in that region, 200 people have been arrested from April to up to now for several offenses and cases in which people have been murdered by dismemberment have been clarified.

He added: “We have been able to clarify crimes on issues such as extortion, micro trafficking, disappearance, displacement, which means that the institutional strengthening has been significant.”

Regarding those cases in which people have been murdered by dismemberment he stated that people inolved have been identified and twenty six (26) warrants of arrest have been requested. Twelve (12) of these arrests have been carried out including minors and adults.

The Deputy Assistant highlighted “we believe that the intervention of the Attorney General´s Office has been important, we have moved forward, mainly, as regards to the level of trust placed by citizens in judicial authorities (…)  during these last months we have increased  150%  in the number of complaints”.
