A prosecutor belonging to the Assets Forfeiture Directorate (in spanish Dirección de Extinción del Derecho de Dominio*) ordered the return of 318 properties that were part of 2 assets seizure processes “Extinción de Dominio” and belonged to  the drug trafficker Helmer Herrera Buitrago, alias Pacho Herrera, his relatives and front men.

This decision favors 160 families that in the late 80s and 90s invested their money in buying apartments in Centenario II and Yemanya buildings located at residential compound La Alquería, as well as lots and offices in Cali (Valle del Cauca) which were subjected to (2) two assets seizure processes (Extinción de Dominio) since october 2002. Priority was given to these cases in the last period as it was ordered by the Attorney General.

 

*Assets Forfeiture: in spanish Extinción de Dominio . A constitutional  action to take control of properties illegally obtained. It  intends to recover profits earned by criminal organizations.
