Today, during a visit made to the municipality of Buenaventura (Valle del Cauca), the Deputy Attorney General, Jorge Fernando Perdomo Torres gave a report regarding the positive results of the intervention of the Attorney General´s Office in that region during the last 6 months.
In this regard, he said that it is satisfying for him to see that the Attorney General´s office has been strengthen with more than 30 public servants working in that region due to the fact that 200 people have been arrested from April to the present day for different offenses and also cases where people have been murdered by dismemberment have been clarified.
He added: “We have been able to clarify many crimes on issues such as extortion, micro trafficking, disappearance, displacement, which means that the institutional strengthening has been significant.”
Regarding those cases in which people have been murdered by dismemberment he stated that the people responsible have been identified and twenty six (26) warrants of arrest have been requested. Twelve (12) of these arrests have been carried out and included minors and adults.
The Deputy Assistant highlighted “we believe that the intervention of the Attorney General´s Office has been important, we have moved forward, mainly, as regards to the level of trust placed by citizens in judicial authorities (…) during these last months we have increased 150% in the number of complaints”.
