The Attorney General’s Office expressed its nonconformity regarding the article published on the FARC´s website last September 2, 2014 in which inappropriate statements concerning Clara Rojas González, Ingrid Betancourt Pulecio and retired General Luis Mendieta Ovalle were made.
The Attorney General’s Office, Eduardo Montealegre Lynett, considers that the status of victim cannot and should not be unilaterally attributed, which means that the quality of victim responds to a criteria and standards that have been clearly established by the Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.
Insulting reports, like those published by FARC on their website do not contribute to reconciliation, reparation nor to determine the truth of what happened.
The victims of armed conflict deserve full respect and they have the right to not be victimized again. That requires reciprocal obligation to not attack again those who have suffered the consequences of this conflict.
