The 20th Criminal Circuit Court in Bogotá sentenced John Jairo Contreras Ramírez, driver hired by the company Transmilenio SA, for the crimes of manslaughter with criminal negligence leading to personal injuries.
The incident took place on May 5, 2009 in Caracas Avenue in front of the prison La Picota where the bus tried to avoid a motorcycle and hit a public bus, killing five people and wounding 30.
