A former governor of Cesar region, a former mayor of Ipiales (Nariño) and several former public servants will be interrogated by the Prosecutor General Office for alleged irregularities in contracts of public works.

Regarding the “contract carousel”*, the Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Jorge Fernando Perdomo said that the former mayor of Ipiales (Nariño), Gustavo Estupiñán Calvache, and the former Secretary of the Municipal Planning Department, Javier de la Carrera Bravo, will be summoned for  interrogation.

The decision was based on alleged irregularities in the adjudication of a contract whose aim was to build a marketplace called Ipiales Somos Todos.

Likewise, the former governor Cesar Cristian Moreno Paneso and the former Secretary of the Municipal Planning Department Roque Sánchez Arteaga were summoned by the Attorney General Office for interrogation.

These people are investigated for the alleged irregularities in the case of a contract for public works whose aim was to build a road from Chiriguaná municipality to Sabaneta to the value of 4,900 billion pesos.

Perdomo said that these investigations regarding the so-called “contract carousel” emerged from the investigations conducted by the Delegate  Prosecutor´s Office  at the Supreme Court in Bogotá for corruption issues in Bogotá.
