Ramón María Isaza Arango, former commander of the Peasant Self-Defense Forces of Magdalena Medio and other four former commanders from the same block were partially sentenced by the Justice and Peace Chamber of the High Court in Bogota for crimes committed during 1977 and February 2006.

Isaza Arango, alias El Viejo, was convicted to 40 years in prison, ordered to pay a fine of 29,300 Colombian legal minimum wages and disbarred from the practice of law and public functions for the crimes of aggravated murder, murder of a protected person, torture of a protected person, levies, and arbitrary taxes, terrorism, forced displacement, forced disappearance, and illegal recruitment.
