The Attorney General’s Office, in a joint operation with the National Police captured Jonathan Vega Chavez, the man who had allegedly attacked with acid in the body to Natalia Ponce de León.

The capture took place after the prosecution managed to collect evidence that this would be the man who last March 28 in Santa Barbara Occidental neighborhood of Bogota, throw acid in the body of the young woman of 33 years.

The Deputy Attorney General of Nation, Jorge Fernando Perdomo, said that catches were performed after a series of search warrants carried out in the north of Bogota in the house of a relative of Vega Chavez.

“Vega will be charged with the alleged commission of the offense of murder in the form of attempt because injuries could even lead to death. This offense includes a minimum sentence of 18 years in prison”, said Perdomo.

According to research, Perdomo said that apparently the alleged assailant “had some kind of relationship a few years ago with Natalia Ponce and would have occurred even death threats.”

The judicial officer explained that it was a very effective joint working between the prosecution and the police in recent days. Now, “we’re going to legalize the capture, assign and apply for security measure”, he said pointing out that it would be brought to the Judicial complex Paloquemao

“We have evidence, including testimony, family information and the same victim, but especially videos, allowing us to reach this general conclusion,” said the deputy prosecutor.
